PHYSIC GARDENThe Garden Workers annually provide maintenance to Pennsylvania Hospital’s Physic Garden. The garden serves as an open-air classroom for Philadelphia youth. In May 2006, the Physic Garden began serving as the backdrop for a unique program for Philadelphia-area school children, called Learn to Grow.

PHYSIC GARDEN

In 1976, the planting of this garden at Pennsylvania Hospital was the bicentennial project of the Philadelphia Committee of the Garden Club of America and the Friends of Pennsylvania Hospital. It contains plants and herbs used for medicines in the 18th century. The PCGCA continues to maintain the garden to this day. Original plans were designed by Martha Ludes Garra.

 

 
SHARPE PARKSince 1979, Garden Workers have partnered with Lower Merion Township to help maintain and enhance Sharpe Park and Bird Sanctuary. This 2.7-acre property is located in Haverford, PA and was gifted to the township by Garden Workers member Catherine Dixon Sharpe in 1963.

MAGNOLIA TRIBUTE GARDENThe Magnolia Tribute Garden, on the south side of Locust between 4th and 5th Streets in Philadelphia, was donated by the Garden Club of America in honor of the founders of our nation and dedicated in May 1959. Yearly, The Garden Workers contribute to the maintenance of the garden.

The Magnolia Tribute Garden, on the south side of Locust between 4th and 5th Streets in Philadelphia, was donated by the Garden Club of America in honor of the founders of our nation and dedicated in May 1959. Yearly, The Garden Workers contribute to the maintenance of the garden.

WOODFORD MANSIONFor many years, Garden Workers have decorated Woodford Mansion in Farimount Park for the Very Philly Christmas holiday tour. Each year there is a different theme and the club is responsible for decorating the front entrance, living room and most recently, the dining room.
